The complexities of the project to re-develop the Earls Court Exhibition Centre are many and varied, requiring nearly three years' pre-planning prior to commencement.

Some of the difficulties faced were in respect of the proximity of the underground lines passing beneath the site and the adjacent Network Rail lines and the consideration towards surrounding properties. In addition, the triangular shaped site creates limitations with regard to the placement of high capacity lifting machinery.

The construction methods utilised by the original developers required the removal of numerous cast-in-situ concrete beams, all unique to this particular structure.

CLEAR were asked to tender for the liability insurances by Keltbray, and with our wide access to specialist underwriters, an appropriate programme was devised. Our approach involved arranging for key potential insurers to work directly with the client to assess the true risk exposures whilst physically attending the site. This interaction enabled them to provide enhanced wordings at competitive premiums. CLEAR's innovative approach resulted in a broader base of cover than would otherwise have been available satisfying both Keltbray and their clients that a thorough understanding of the inherent risks of the project had been achieved. CLEAR continue to discuss the group’s risks and ensure that they are appropriately managed, now and in the future.
