Chloé Valorso wins the Cockpit Arts/CLEAR Award 2021

But there can only be one winner — and for 2021, we’re very pleased to announce that it’s Spirit Artist Jeweller, Chloé Valorso.

Chloé will receive a subsidised studio space at Cockpit Arts — worth £2,500* — plus tailored business support in the form of workshops and 1 to 1 coaching, participation in their open studios events, and an insurance package from CLEAR. Congratulations Chloé!

(We’re also pleased to share that some of the unsuccessful candidates were offered standard studio spaces, encouraged to apply to Cockpit’s LCN programme, and will be given face to face feedback).

Here’s what Chloé had to say:

“Winning the Cockpit Arts Clear Insurance award 2021 strengthens my confidence in my artistic practice. My work carries a message of connection, of hope and magic. I merge my art and spiritual practices to create a whole ecosystem. I am grateful to have the support to take my craft to the next level.

I am really excited to be part of a creative community like Cockpit Arts and to attend the business incubator program. I can't wait to work in my studio in the heart of London and collaborate with brands and artists.”

Working with the resurgence of magic, in the witching hours of the 21st century, Chloé is investigating our reality, forging the unreal from fragments of the real.

Using jewellery as a shamanic language, her pieces act as amulets, empowering the wearer through their compelling symbolic qualities and deep sense of history — an essential component in this innovative interpretation of mythology.

Her pieces encourage a contemplative and spiritual approach to our environment. She aims to inspire a re-connection to ourselves, each other and nature.

Her work is set in liminality, merging organic/manmade, fake/imagined, raw materials with contemporary digital associations: a material physical exploration of a metaphysical dimension…

Chloé previously graduated from Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art. Originally from Paris, Chloé is a nomad jeweller, often traveling to discover new crafts and adventures, as well as a Shamanic Breathwork and Yoga teacher.

Thanks to the Cockpit Arts/CLEAR Award 2021, Chloé’s will have a studio/shaman's cave at Cockpit Arts Holborn.
